DISC Online Workshop: Understanding behavioral patterns

In order to communicate better and successfully deal with strengths and weaknesses, it is vital to understand one’s own needs and those of others.

  • Understand the variations of human behavior
  • Discover individual personalities
  • Establish strengths and potentials on the team level

During the workshop, we analyze the participant’s personalities with the DISC personality test. Based on this test, the basic principle as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the DISC model will be presented. The results of the test merely serve as a small aid in the subsequent comparison of self- as well as external perception. Here, the focus is on appreciating the strengths that each individual brings to the table. Subsequently, different communication and problem-solving strategies will be discussed. Finally, the focus is shifted from the individual to the team, identifying the strengths and potentials of the whole team.

The Agenda

At teamazing, each workshop starts with an energizer, a short exercise to energize and motivate the participants. We are open to fun and unconventional methods. In the main part of the workshop, the evaluation of individual DISG tests takes place, with a significant focus on comparing external perception with self-perception. Subsequently, conclusions for the entire team are derived from the team’s DISG presentations. There is ample room for exchange to conclude the workshop harmoniously.

The Content

The DISC model describes human behaviors and communication styles based on four personality styles: Dominant, Influential, Steady, and Conscientious. In our workshop, we analyze the behaviors of each individual together to strengthen appreciation within the team and develop a better understanding of different behaviors in the work environment.

Do you often not understand why your colleagues behave in certain situations?

Working in a team means encountering people with whom you immediately click and others with whom you don’t connect as well. However, avoiding unsympathetic colleagues is not a solution. By attempting to better understand the behaviors of your team members and gaining deeper insight into their mindset, you can assess them much better. You will realize that there are no inherently negative traits, but rather that each trait has its advantages and disadvantages. In this workshop, you will learn how to resolve potential conflict situations more easily or even recognize and prevent them beforehand. Furthermore, the workshop will support you in unleashing the individual strengths of your entire team and significantly improving communication.

A DISC workshop that analyzes personality types can offer you many benefits for everyday life. By developing a deeper understanding of different behaviors and communication styles, you can assess and comprehend your fellow human beings better. When different personalities collide: Why employee communication suffers from behavioral differences

When different personality types come together, often different worlds collide. Each person has their own beliefs, values, preferences, and behaviors, which can lead to conflicts and misunderstandings.

DISC-Modell diagramm for a better understanding

The DISC theory is based on the work of American psychologist William Moulton Marston, who first developed the idea in 1928 that our individual perception of the environment has a significant influence on our communication. He is considered the founder and developer of the DISC theory. Building upon this foundation, Professor Dr. John G. Geier from the University of Minnesota developed the current DISC personality profile, which is based on the four behavioral dimensions of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness. The model was first introduced in Germany in 1990.

The 4 DiSC personality types are based on the DISC model, which categorizes individuals into four primary behavioral styles: Dominance (D), Influence (i), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C).

  1. Dominance (D): People with a Dominant style are typically assertive, results-oriented, and decisive. They are confident leaders who focus on achieving goals and taking charge of situations.
  2. Influence (i): Individuals with an Influence style are outgoing, persuasive, and sociable. They thrive on building relationships, influencing others, and generating enthusiasm and excitement.
  3. Steadiness (S): People with a Steadiness style are dependable, patient, and team-oriented. They value stability, harmony, and cooperation, and they excel in providing support and maintaining relationships.
  4. Conscientiousness (C): Individuals with a Conscientious style are detail-oriented, analytical, and systematic. They emphasize accuracy, quality, and precision, and they excel in tasks that require organization and careful planning.

These four personality types provide insights into different behavioral preferences and communication styles, helping individuals understand themselves and others better in various contexts.

The DiSC test is a behavioral assessment tool that measures an individual’s behavioral style and preferences. It is based on the DiSC model, which categorizes people into four primary personality styles: Dominance (D), Influence (i), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C). The DiSC test typically consists of a series of questions or statements that participants respond to, indicating their preferences or behaviors in various situations. The test results provide individuals with insights into their own behavioral style, strengths, areas for development, and how they interact with others. It can be used in personal development, team building, leadership training, and other areas to improve self-awareness, communication, and relationships.

There is no specific DiSC profile that is universally deemed as the best for a CEO role. The effectiveness of a CEO depends on various factors, including the organization’s culture, industry, and specific requirements of the role. Different DiSC profiles can bring valuable strengths and skills to leadership positions.

That being said, individuals with a combination of Dominance (D) and Influence (i) traits are often associated with successful CEO roles. These individuals tend to be assertive, results-driven, influential, and skilled in leading and inspiring others. However, it’s important to note that other profiles, such as those with Steadiness (S) or Conscientiousness (C) traits, can also bring unique perspectives and strengths to leadership positions.

Ultimately, the ideal DiSC profile for a CEO will depend on the specific context and requirements of the organization and the CEO’s ability to leverage their strengths, adapt their approach, and effectively lead and inspire their team.

A DiSC workshop with your team offers several benefits. It improves communication by fostering understanding and appreciation for different communication styles, leading to reduced misunderstandings and enhanced collaboration. Conflict resolution is also enhanced as team members gain insights into their own and others’ styles, enabling them to navigate conflicts more effectively. The workshop enhances team dynamics by leveraging individual strengths and promoting effective collaboration. Additionally, personal growth is supported through deeper self-awareness of behavioral styles, leading to maximized potential and contribution. Ultimately, the workshop strengthens relationships within the team, fostering trust, unity, and a positive work environment.
